Invenção é coisa séria

Durante anos, um sujeito simpático perambulou por ministérios, órgãos públicos, empresas e redações tentando convencer as pessoas de duas coisas: de que não era meio pirado e de que sua invenção era coisa séria. Não conseguiu.
Pois em poucas semanas na Europa conquistou o reconhecimento que seu próprio país lhe negou e um prêmio para esfregar na cara de todo mundo, inclusive na minha.
O sujeito é o paraibano Reginaldo Marinho, que estudou três anos de engenharia e dois de arquitetura, mas nunca se formou. Seu sonho era ser inventor. Sabe-se agora que a sua vocação, também.
Ele ganhou nada mais nada menos que a medalha de ouro do Salão Internacional de Invenções da Europa, em Genebra, concorrendo com mais de 600 “malucos” de 44 países. Já tem convites de institutos da Inglaterra e da Polônia para expor seu projeto e de quatro empresas européias para desenvolvê-lo e comercializá-lo.
Trata-se do “Construcel”, estrutura de plástico em forma de prisma para galpões, silos, academias, ginásios, ou abrigos. Hoje, os materiais desse tipo de obra são concreto, metal ou madeira. Ele criou uma opção mais leve, mais prática, mais barata. O Brasil, público e privado, nem sequer se dava ao trabalho de ver.
Essa história lembra a do Bina, o aparelho que identifica a origem de ligações telefônicas. Seu inventor foi um brasileiro, Nélio Nicolai, que não ficou com o mérito e nem lucra um centavo dos US$ 8 bilhões que sua idéia movimenta por ano no mundo.
Num país em que selecionar, reconhecer e principalmente financiar projetos acadêmicos já é um parto, imagine os projetos de autodidatas visionários. Por trás de cada um deles, entretanto, pode haver uma surpresa e uma nova tecnologia.
Governo, iniciativa privada e jornalistas, como eu, pecamos pela omissão. Parabéns, Reginaldo Marinho! E mil desculpas para você e os pirados como você.

An invention is an important matter
For many years a nice, friendly man went around Brazil to ministries, public organs, firms and editorial offices trying to convince people of two things: firstly that he wasn’t crazy and secondly that his invention was reliable. But he didn’t get anything.
Nevertheless he didn’t obtain anything from his own country, even though he got an important award in Europe immediately after, so that he could slam it in everyone’s face, mine included.
This man’s name is Reginaldo Marinho, from Paraiba, who studied engineering for three years and architecture for two years, even though, in the end, he didn’t get the degree. He dreamt of being an inventor. And now everybody knows that it was his calling.
He was awarded, nothing more nothing less, a gold medal in Europe at lasted “International Invention Show” in Geneva, competing with more than 600 “madmen” from 44 countries. He already been invited by some English and Polish institutions to exhibit his own invention; four European firms also proposed to develop and use it in the trade business.
The matter in hand is CONSTRUCEL, a plastic structure shaped in a triangle prism to build sports gymnasiums, hangars, warehouses, industrial storage sheds, silos etc. Nowadays the materials used for these kinds of constructions are only three, concrete, metal and wood. He created an option much more light, practical and cheap. Nevertheless Brazil, in its public and private sphere, not even took the trouble of seeing it.
This story recalls the one related BINA, the appliance that identifies the origin of phone calls. It was invented by a Brazilian, Nélio Nicolai, who neither got any award nor gained the hundredth part of 8 billion dollars his invention puts in motion every year.
In a country where selecting, acknowledging and especially financing academic projects is already a “birth”, imagine what happens with the ones coming from self-taught visionaries. Behind everyone of them, meantime, there might be a surprise and a new technology.
Government, private firms and journalists, like me, we all erred in our lack of interest, in our omission. Congratulations, Reginaldo Marinho! And thousand apologizes to you and every madman like you.
